The trek starts in the small trading center of Budadiri, where you register with the national park authorities. The air becomes noticeably warmer and thicker as you lose elevation, and the familiar sounds of tropical birds return to replace the silence of the high moorlands.

The final leg of the trek involves descending the Sasa ladders once more and walking back into the lush agricultural lands of Budadiri. Reaching the park gate marks the official completion of the circuit. After saying goodbye to the guiding team, you will board your vehicle for the return trip to Entebbe. The drive back provides a chance to see the rural life of eastern Uganda, passing through busy markets and small villages.

Lunch is typically taken in Mbale or Jinja before the final stretch to the airport or your hotel in Entebbe. The transition from the quiet, cold peaks of Mount Elgon to the humid, bustling atmosphere of the Lake Victoria shores is a stark contrast. You will arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon, concluding a week of intense physical challenge and natural exploration in the Pearl of Africa.
